For Those Interested in Puppies:

Puppies are available to the “best” homes with the “best” families matched to each puppy’s individual temperament/personality as well as the family’s activity and experience level. Puppy temperaments are determined by temperament testing conducted on the 49th day of their life. While prospective puppy owners are welcome to share their preferences of puppy sex, coat type, color and or markings, these are considered secondary when matching a puppy with a prospective family.

All puppies go to homes with:

AKC Limited Registration - Allows for participation & competition in all performance events and dog sports including (but not limited to) obedience, rally, agility, scent-work, water-work, therapy dog, dock diving, barn hunt, and tracking; but NO BREEDING unless previous contract changes discussed with breeder. Current research suggests the best time to spay/neuter is after the first heat cycle for girls or after at least 6 months in boys in order to allow full growth and development of the body (especially the bones and joints) to take place.

Health Testing for Both Parents - I follow all PWDCA (national club) recommended health testing for our breed as well as some optional health testing as appropriate. I only breed PWDs who are healthy, of good lines and good genetics. Once in their new homes, growth and development of a healthy puppy can be influenced by hormones, environment and complete nutrition.

Breeder-Owner Contract – All puppy owners sign a contract that details their responsibilities as the owner as well as my responsibilities as the breeder. Owners must be willing to return the puppy to the breeder if they cannot keep the puppy or for any reason need to place or re-home the puppy. There will never be any question or judgement. Also, the breeder is the owner’s resource, in good times and bad, for the entire lifetime of the puppy.

Implanted Microchip – All puppies are microchipped before leaving the breeder. The breeder will be listed as the secondary emergency contact should the puppy ever be lost or find its way into a shelter and the primary owners be unreachable for any reason. This is purely a safety concern and part of the role of a responsible breeder.

Completed Initial Eye Exam – All puppies receive a full eye exam at 7 weeks old

Veterinary Exam and Initial Shots – All puppies receive a full veterinary exam and initial set of vaccinations at 7 weeks old. Subsequent vaccinations will be given as needed depending on the number of weeks the puppy stays with the breeder before being picked up by their new owner.

Initial Worming – Worming will be done once with the breeder and then subsequently as needed in order for the puppy to be free of worms prior to leaving the breeders’ care

All paperwork and records – When you leave the breeder with your puppy, you will also have copies of all records and paperwork from your puppy birth to the day you’ve picked them up.

Puppy Food – An initial supply of puppy food will be provided to help the puppy transition to their new home.

If you decide that KD PWDs is the right breeder for you and your family, please contact us by emailing [email protected]. You will be sent a puppy owner questionnaire to fill out and you will be contacted about the next steps including puppy visits and a refundable deposit. Deposits are only refunded if we cannot place a puppy with you. This is usually due to low litter size and high demand but can sometimes be due to not finding the right match.

Please be aware that KD PWDs reserves the right to refuse to provide a puppy to any applicant for any reason.

Note:

**I DO NOT FLY PUPPIES OR DOGS IN CARGO, puppies can only be flown in RARE circumstances in the cabin as a carry-on**
